Lacuna Community Fund

The Lacuna Community Fund is our primary grantmaking vehicle. Lacuna members select a theme for each year’s grantmaking cycle. During our last grantmaking cycle in 2021, Lacuna selected the theme “Art in Action,” and granted awards to the following grantees raising the visibility of the AAPI community through arts, while advancing progressive values and causes:

 

A 6-point philanthropic and interactive arts platform that acknowledges, engages, and financially supports Black, Indigenous, and other Artists of Color whose creative practices heal communities and save lives.

Grant amount: $2,500

 

 

San Francisco arts organization that cultivates artists who reflect and celebrate the diverse values, traditions, and histories of Pilipino and Filipino American cultures through bold artistic expression and community engagement.

Grant amount: $2,500

 

Founded in 1972, KSW presents, produces, and promotes art that empowers Asian Pacific American (APA) artists and communities, and is the oldest APA multidisciplinary arts organization in the country.

Grant amount: $2,500


A documentary project that tells a coming-of-age story, celebrating the trailblazers who rebuilt community and forged a vibrant music industry more influential than the one they left behind in their homeland post Fall of Saigon.

Grant amount: $2,500


Tobera Project

An art and history exhibition uplifting the Filipino labor and migration narratives found in the city of Watsonville, CA. The exhibition will be the culminating project of a two-year collaboration between Watsonville organization The Tobera Project, Bay Area artists, and faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates affiliated with the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC).

Grant amount: $1,000


Los Angeles-based arts organization that provides Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander (AANHPI), Little Tokyo, and greater Los Angeles communities with a number of diverse and dynamic public art and culture programs in safe community spaces where people can connect through creative expression and social engagement.
